The fourth Translation Village Festival will be held between 8-10 September 2023 @Imvros Island/Gökçeada/Çanakkale, translationvillage.org

This year’s theme is again Translation, Music and Dance, which means we will be singing and dancing on the streets, squares and shores of the island for three days! There will be a main stage for music concerts along with various workshops and talks on translation, music, dance, and much more.

First organised in 2017, the festival will host multilingual music groups, DJ performances, and translation+dance workshops.

Join us for an enjoyable three days of critical conversations, interactive workshops, and of course, participatory dance and live music!

The event is FREE OF CHARGE and OPEN TO EVERYONE, but you can buy solidarity tickets to help us provide bursaries for people who would like to participate in the event but can’t afford to pay for transport and accommodation.

MUSIC CONCERTS: We will be hosting 5 great multilingual and multiinstrumental music groups on our stage:

Imvros Ensemble
Peradi Ensemble
Naranjaman @DJ set.

DANCE WORKSHOPS: There will be various dance workshops and participatory performances from different parts of the world. (No experience necessary!):

Balfolk (European Folk Dances)
Traditional Greek Dances

TRANSLATION WORKSHOPS: There will be workshops and forums to discuss how technology impacts translation work, and how can we improve our working conditions and build alternative economy models in our community.

Transportation: Imvros (Gökçeada) is an island in the North Aegean, in the province of Çanakkale/Turkey. The ferries to Imvros depart from Kabatepe. Departure times may change due to demand. Bring your instrument to join the vibrant jams throughout the festival. Everyone is invited to take part in the joy of Balfolk dances and workshops.
